Abstract
This review critiques Michael Rosen's Michael Rosen's Book of Play!. Part self-help guide, part game suggestion, the book offers readers an insight into the former children's laureate's belief that play is vital, and that we need to be doing more of it. Through anecdotes, light theory, and invitations, provocations and prompts for play, Rosen - in his own inimitable style - offers suggestions as to how adults might get more play in their lives. This review evaluates the effectiveness of this approah, and considers its contribution to conversations and studies of play.
